Yet in this time of great division...
Relationships feel... lacking. The conversations you know we need daily and in community aren't happening and a sense of loneliness gnaws at you.

You're hesitant to dive deep with new friend, fearful of overstepping boundaries.
Life seems to be one transition after another. Sometimes, it feels like you don't have the support to get through. Some of you reading this are incarcerated, wanting to make the most of connections in this time of feeling discarded.

Cancel culture feels bogus because you know relationships take commitment. Aren't we cheating each other AND ourselves by ghosting? And what can we do about it?
There IS another way
By committing to being vulnerable with each other, we can:
Be real about how we feel and what we're capable of
Make friends with disciplined habits
Learn healthy confrontation instead of conflict
Know and live by our own morals and integrity
Sit with & learn from the discomfort of guilt & anger
Cultivate the courage to alchemize shame & grow

From this foundation we grow together into communities that stand the test of time.

Here's how we know it works:
Once upon a time, in the Norwegian Arctic, an American farmer built such a foundation with a diverse crew of young international students at a folk school.
​
It started with a question; "Will you teach us how to have good conversations?"
​
It turned into ongoing explorations of inner worlds - philosophies, emotions, questions and ideas. They met around a fire in the gamme (pronounced GAH-mah) - an indigenous structure made of birch and peat nestled in the forest.
​
The farmer realized our inner worlds are just like Earth ecosystems. They are complex, interconnected, and regenerate when tended in community.
​
The youth and the farmer went on to pass this flame of deep connection.
